Gallariji Suite
The traditional Maltese balcony, known as the ‘gallarija’ is a prominent feature in the Maltese urban landscape. Their origin is owed to the oriental ‘muxrabija’ – a structure that allowed dwellers to look outside without giving up on their own privacy.
Whereas on a practical level they serve as climate controllers and light providers, balconies are very much part of the Maltese way of life. The Maltese gallarija comes to life during the village festa when owners adorn it with drapes, lights and effigies of saints.
